COMBINED LARGE & SMALL GEOTHERMAL CHIMNEY TOUR

Location : Eyafjörður fjord, Akureyri

Larger chimney scuba dive-

We start off sailing from the tiny village of Hjalteyri, on the west coast of Eyajförður to the Larger chimney, a relaxing 30 minutes sail. In this dive we will explore the geothermal cones and get a chance observe sea anemones, colourful sea urchins, several types of nudibranch mollusks, schools of cod, lumpfish, and many other species who find shelter in and around the chimneys. The diving depth is 25-30 meters with a minimum depth of 15 meters. The water temperature near the top of the chimney can reach 76 C but for most of the dive we will be in 5 C to 8 C water ( in summer).

Smaller chimney scuba dive-

After visiting the Larger chimney the heading is north-west to the Smaller chimney. Beside the above mentioned marine animals, we will also get a chance to see the illusive wolf fish which loves to hide out around the base of the smaller chimneys. Maximum depth is around 25 to 30 meters and minimum depth is 16 meters. During the 45 minute sail back to the harbour, we will enjoy a light lunch of sandwiches and hot chocolate.
