SMALLER GEOTHERMAL CHIMNEYS

Arnarnesstrýtur Geothermal Cones

Location :  Eyafjörður fjord, Akureyri

Arnaresstrýtur is a small cluster of geothermal cones which rise to depths of 25 to 40 meters below the surface.

The water temperature from the chimneys is 79°C and is believed to be approximately 11,000 years old.  In this dive we will explore the cones, take a  look at the wolf fish which hide among the structures as well as observe other creatures which inhabit this hot underwater spring.  Divers need to be physically fit and have good buoyancy as currents can be strong.  We also offer tour to the big chimney and combined tour.

Note:

In order to get the most out of your scuba diving experience in Iceland we recommend that all participants come well prepared.  Having a good hearty breakfast the morning of your scuba dive will give you the energy you need for the dive.  Also, if you have only used a wetsuit we recommend that you acclimatize yourself with dry suit diving first!  If you have not had previous dry suit experience we offer the possibility of dry suit testing before you dive. * for a small fee
