STANDARD ( Wreck )

Location : Eyafjörður fjord, Akureyri

 Skútan is a wooden schooner that sank just outside the harbor of Akureyri in 1917 and lies at a depth of about 24 meters. The ship was built in 1876 in the USA, is 60 meters long and is still in very good condition. Visibility depends very much on conditions of the sea.


Special permission from the Port Authority of Akureyri is needed to dive down to Skútan.

Diving skill  : advanced scuba diving skills with experience in dry suit diving and boat diving.*

Estimated tour duration : 3-4 hours**

Minimum participants : 2

Includes : 1 dive, hotel pickup and drop off in Akureyri, all equipment, an experienced local dive guide, a light meal and lots of fun.

You Need to Bring : A diving certification from any recognized diving organization, warm long underwear and thick socks.

Note:

In order to get the most out of your scuba diving experience in Iceland we recommend that all participants come well prepared.  Having a good hearty breakfast the morning of your scuba dive will give you the energy you need for the dive.  Also, if you have only used a wetsuit we recommend that you acclimatize yourself with dry suit diving first!  If you have not had previous dry suit experience we offer the possibility of dry suit testing before you dive. * for a small fee
