SNORKELING NESGJÁ & STEKKJARGJÁ

Location : Keldurhverfi, North Iceland

The tour begins in Husavik and we take a 40 minute scenic drive to Kelduhverfi where the famous horseshoe-shaped canyon Ásbyrgi is located. We will snorkel in the magnificent underwater canyon Nesgjá, a shallow 4 meter deep canyon filled with crystal clear water which comes out of the lava and runs into the lake. After a 30 minute* swim we will drive further into Kelduhverfi to the spectacular Stekkjargjá, which was recently discovered as a diving/snorkeling spot.

Whalewatching with Northsailing can be done before or afterwards.

Estimated Tour duration:  6-8 hours*

Minimum: 2 participants

Includes: Snorkeling for 1-2 hours, hotel pick up in Akureyri or Husavik and return, all equipment, a light meal and lots of fun.

You need: No certification needed but warm long underwear and thick socks are recommended. No swimming experience needed.

Note:

In order to get the most out of your scuba diving experience in Iceland we recommend that all participants come well prepared.  Having a good hearty breakfast the morning of your scuba dive will give you the energy you need for the dive.  Also, if you have only used a wetsuit we recommend that you acclimatize yourself with dry suit diving first!  If you have not had previous dry suit experience we offer the possibility of dry suit testing before you dive. * for a small fee
